Referrals to the team will lead to an initial telephone discussion with parents to ascertain urgency and the nature of the problems, which may lead to pre-assessment questionnaires being sent to parents and nursery/school. The scope of the assessment would then be planned by the team, and the parents would be advised of the timescales, the costs and the identity of the team member who will act as the lead co-ordination in the assessment process.

Once an assessment is completed, the parents will receive a report and will be invited to attend a new diagnosis family meeting to look at the implications of the diagnosis and the best next steps, which could include referral to the local NHS CAMHService or NHS Child Development Team.
