The Ashwood Practice has a registered Contact Centre (NACC) known as The Ashwood Contact Centre which offers managed / supervised and therapeutic contact services for children of separated parents and for those children living permanently in alternative homes.

The Ashwood Contact Centre is situated in warm, comfortable rooms with cooking and play facilities and a safe space to play outside. There are separate entrances for those clients who do not wish to meet and a security system in place in case of need.

Contact Managers at the Ashwood Contact Centre are employed qualified professional staff and we do not use volunteers. There will always be a person available who is not involved in the contact who can provide additional help in case of a difficulty arising. The Ashwood Contact Centre can make contact possible even when there has been a dispute between parents. We seek to manage contact in a way that reduces the anxieties of parents and creates a safe place for children to develop a good relationship with their absent parent(s) and / or other significant relatives.

The Ashwood Contact Centre is part of the Ashwood Practice and therefore has access to a multi-disciplinary team offering a wide range of services for disrupted families:

  • Assessment of risk and / or contact viability
  • Preparation of Reports and provision of Expert Opinion for Matrimonial and Care Proceedings
  • Clinical Mediation for separated parents in dispute about residence and contact for their children
  • Support Groups for separating parents
  • Family Therapy
  • Individual Therapy for children and young people
  • Re-introduction of estranged parents
  • Contact by Proxy
  • Managed Contact to promote damaged relationships between a child and absent parent and ensure safety
  • Management of transition to Unsupervised Contact where appropriate / feasible
  • Therapeutic Contact to address unresolved conflict / historical anxieties
  • Contact for children living separately from their parents following placement in long term foster care or adoption
