The Ashwood Practice, is part of The Baker Duncan Partnership, established in 1991 and based at Brookwood, Woking, Surrey. The Ashwood Practice has developed a range of Specialist Private Assessment and Treatment Services across the whole spectrum of psychological/mental health conditions and childhood developmental problems, including Aspergers Syndrome, Autism, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, ADHD and OCD.
We have no age limits and can offer a continuing service throughout childhood, adolescence and adulthood. The clinical problems we commonly encounter include depression, deliberate self-harm, anxiety - in all its forms, mood disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders and adjustments reactions in individuals and families in relation to traumatic seperation (including bereavement of parents, children and siblings) or other family crises such as divorce and domestic/family violence.
We have developed specialist expertise in assisting families who have adopted children with attachment problems and we have also set up a therapeutic re-parenting scheme to support foster-carers who are struggling with very challenging behaviour in younger children.
Where divorce or parental separation has led to extreme acrimony and hostility over issues of children's residence and contact with separated parents, we have developed a clinical family mediation service in conjunction with the Family Courts to ensure that children maintain good relationships with their parents and repair the damage that the trauma of divorce so often brings to children.

The practitioners are all qualified and registered with the appropriate professional regulating body. e.g. GMC, British Psychological Society, UKCP, BPS, BACBP, and they each hold a valid practice certificate for their speciality. The various services we have developed since 1991 reflect a wide range of demand for psychological and psychiatric assessment and therapeutic services for a variety of mental health and developmental disorders, which can affect childhood, adolescence, adulthood and all aspects of family relationships. The kind of problems that many people represented in the referrals mode to us by worried doctors, worried parents, school teachers, educational psychologists, social workers, probation officers, court appointed offices and solicitors. We are open to referrals from all sources. Our policy is to develop the team’s capacity to respond without a waiting list. We have a Can-do Philosophy. |

The Ashwood Practice offers a service which is non-discriminatory and is tailored to suit each client's particular needs. We are bound by ethical codes of practice. Services will be offered within a realistic timescale that is appropriate to the service user's need. We do not operate a waiting list. We believe that successful interventions are facilitated by offering a service in a safe, calm, comfortable setting where clients can feel respected.
The Ashwood Practice have developed a number of specialist services in relation to all aspects of child protection and therapeutic practice in the aftermath of abuse and trauma in childhood. In addition The Ashwood Practice offer specialist services to address specific problems of childhood and adolescence including attachment disorders, pre and post adoption difficulties and family and fostering disruptions. Further specialist services are offered to families, children and younger people who suffer with ADHD, Asperger's Syndrome and substance misuse.
